Cross-Chain Farming
maxAPY is evolving from independent single-chain vaults into a unified cross-chain yield optimization system. Where previously (our Beta version) each chain operated in isolation, V1 introduces seamless cross-chain strategy access through a sophisticated hub-and-spoke architecture.
V1 transforms this model through a hub-based architecture where a single Metavault on one chain (Base) can access and optimize yields across all supported chains.
Omni-Chain Architecture
The V1 system operates through three interconnected but distinct components:
MetaVault (The Hub)
One Metavault per supported asset (eg. one for ETH, one for USDC)
Deployed on a single chain (Base)
Users deposit their assets here and only here
Makes allocation decisions across all available strategies (on all EVM chains)
Serves as the central point of user interaction
Superform Integration (The Bridge)
Handles all cross-chain asset movements
Provides standardized access to vaults across all EVM chains
Reports basic vault metrics including APY
Enables unified position management across chains
SharePriceOracle (The Feedback Loop)
Deployed on every EVM chain with potential strategies
Collects precise performance data from deployed (active) strategy vaults
Uses LayerZero and Chainlink to relay this data back to the MetaVault
Enables accurate performance tracking and optimization decisions
The system operates as a "hub-and-spoke model with bidirectional data flow":
This separation of concerns allows for:
Efficient asset movement through bridges
Independent performance monitoring through the oracle network
Robust decision-making with accurate, real-time data
How It Works
Let's walk through a complete operational flow. Consider an ETH optimization scenario:
User deposits ETH to the maxETH MetaVault on Base
MetaVault has access to all ETH vaults across EVM chains
MetaVault identifies a high-yield opportunity in a Beefy vault on Polygon, a vault that is supported by our bridge providers and has its own yield-generating logic
MetaVault uses a bridge to cross-chain transfer ETH to the Polygon strategy
The maxAPY SharePriceOracle instance that is deployed on Polygon monitors strategy performance
Performance data flows back to the maxETH MetaVault on Base through LayerZero/Chainlink
MetaVault maintains accurate performance tracking and optimization, and can make reallocation decisions, or just make this data accessible to the user in a transparent and on-chain manner.
What happens if the bridge is not able to perform a cross-chain transfer?
When (rarely) a bridge operation fails, our system has robust recovery mechanisms in place:
Failed transactions are automatically handled by Superform's infrastructure
Funds are fully returned to a designated refund address on the source network - the maxAPY temporary recovery vault
The protocol automatically detects the returned funds and initiates a retry
This process typically resolves within 4 hours
Important: Your funds are never at risk during this process - it's simply a timing delay that may require some additional gas fees paid by maxAPY.
This is part of our defense-in-depth approach to cross-chain security.
Integrated Chains
For each supported assset, we deploy your funds on the highest-yielding strategies across all major DeFi protocols on:
These are the chains where we deploy your funds to the highest-yielding strategies—but also where you can deposit from. No need to bridge or swap manually; just deposit in any token, and we’ll zap it into the vaults on Base for you.
